Schedule of Grand Sumo Tournament Japan 2018

There are six grand tournaments (hon basho) a year and each tournament lasts for fifteen days. The months and locations are the same every year. The exact schedule is anounced by the Sumo Association.
The grand tournament is held every two months and every second one is held in Tokyo. Starting from the January tournament (commonly called "Hatsu basho" meaning the first tournament of the year) in Tokyo, the March tournament ("Haru basho" spring tournament) in Osaka, the May tournament ("Natsu basho"summer tournament) in Tokyo, the July tournament ("Nagoya basho") in Nagoya, the September tournament ("Aki basho" autumn tournament) in Tokyo, finishing with the November tournament ("Kyushu basho") in Fukuoka in Kyushu.

The next tounament will be held in Tokyo from September 9 to 23, 2018. The advanced tickets have been sold out, but some tickets will be sold on the morning of the day.
